Through Bridge The Gap food distribution program, Community Garden of Eden, and partnerships with organizations such as Feeding Northeast Florida and local grocery stores, the organization provides access to fresh, nutritious food for residents living in underserved communities.
The organization's impact extends beyond hunger relief by promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community partnerships, and encouraging volunteerism. In 2023, Bridge The Gap distributed more than 900,000 pounds of food throughout Northeast Florida, helping thousands of families gain access to essential nutrition and resources. By addressing food insecurity and supporting community wellness, Bridge the Gap plays a vital role in creating a healthier, more resilient, and equitable Jacksonville.
Bridge the Gap partners with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to empower females (incarcerated for misdemeanors) to return to their respective communities as productive citizens. Classes/workshops for developing effective self-management and social skills serve to accomplish this goal. Skill-development classes are offered. Selected inmates donate supervised volunteer time on Wednesdays to help with food distribution and practice their new skills.
